Friendsgiving Ideas

As the chill of late autumn approaches, we can find warmth through the comfort of friends and food! A good way to fill up your Thanksgiving break is with Friendsgiving, a casual holiday to express gratitude with your closest friends. You can plan as much or as little as you like, but here are some suggestions for hosting inspiration!

Before you start planning, make sure you know where you’d want to host a Friendsgiving. The easiest option is to host it at someone’s house, which gives you plenty of room to decorate. However, another option is to set up a picnic blanket at a park to chat with friends while enjoying the autumn scenery.

To make sure you’re not overwhelmed with cooking, it’s best to organize a potluck with a couple of friends. Before you get together, you can discuss amongst your friends which foods you all want to bring. This can also include assigning any tableware, decorations, and supplies for someone to bring in order to ensure no one is taking on too much responsibility.

If you don’t have time to make full dishes because of your busy high school schedule, you can opt for making some cute autumn snacks! Additionally, you can have a charcuterie board that can serve as both a delicious treat and a beautiful centerpiece for your party.

You can also try setting up decorations for a perfect Pinterest-worthy party! If you know how to crochet, you can make pumpkin garland, or you can make autumn leaves garland with paper to hang up at your event. Add anything you want to your Friendsgiving, whether it be candles, real pumpkins, and string lights–whatever you think is aesthetically pleasing!

Want something to do when you’re done eating? Then take the opportunity to do some cozy fall activities with your friends! This can be anything you think is fun, like watching classic fall movies, playing board games, or spending time in nature under the falling red leaves.

Friendsgiving is a fun way to distract from an otherwise difficult time for many students–the months are getting colder, and schoolwork is getting harder. Despite this, we can have gratitude for what we have and appreciate our friends for helping us through whatever difficulties we may face. If you’re in need of relaxation or just want to host a fun get-together with friends, Friendsgiving is the perfect option for you!
