More than Dots on a Page

Bullet journaling is simple. All you have to do is connect the dots, literally. Bullet journaling is a practice that forces you to think beyond the rectangular box of two pages, and create creative spreads that evoke excitement about the week or month to come. It encourages striving towards progress rather than the perfection that our society so desires. A bullet journal is a combination of a dairy, planner, and to do list, but it is so much more than that. For those of you who may not yet be a part of the bullet journaling community, and want to learn more, welcome! Here I will be sharing three reasons why you should start your own bullet journal and how creating my own has impacted me positively.

  1. Cultivating Creativity: Great news! You do not have to be an artist to have a bullet journal. Not able to paint a masterpiece every day? No problem! This practice allows you to use as much or as little artwork as your daily life allows, which often tends to be just enough to keep you inspired. All that is required is an open mind, a bullet journal, and a pen. This is simply a way for you to channel your creativity into your daily life and stay excited about what is coming next!
  2. Aiding with Organization: The entire idea of a planner is to allow those with mountains of to do lists, the opportunity to organize the chaos that occurs in the mind. Creating spreads that focus on deadlines, due dates, and appointments can be immensely helpful to people who are kinesthetic learners, like me, meaning they learn by doing, or in this case writing.
  3. Cathartic form of Self Care: Lastly, bullet journaling can be a form of self care, a lovely reward after a long day, and a physical reminder of all of the progress you have made in a few short months. It is truly helpful in organizing both thoughts, plans, and art as well as serving as a way to nurture and care for yourself.

I hope that this article was helpful and that you begin bullet journaling soon! Best wishes!
