Free Resources for AP Studying
As testing season draws closer, students are frantically looking for study resources to utilize outside of the classroom. If you are looking for enrichment opportunities for College Board Advanced Placement curriculums, read on to see the best tools for you!

College Board AP Classroom: Before anything else, College Board itself has study resources that directly relate to their own tests. It has “AP Daily” videos on every lesson, practice problems, and even full practice tests on Bluebook.
Crash Course (YouTube): Although not affiliated with College Board’s AP curriculum, this channel may be a supplemental resource for many subjects.
Fiveable: Fiveable is a name derived from the idea that students can score a five on their AP tests by using the website. They carry almost all AP subjects, with a comprehensive study guide for each lesson. There are also portions of exams available for students to practice with.
Khan Academy: Initially developed to provide free educational opportunities for all, Khan Academy is a competent resource to use for most subjects. They have video lessons, practice quizzes, and more
All History Subjects (European History, Human Geography, U.S. Government and Politics, U.S. History and World History: Modern:
Heimler’s History (YouTube): His videos are comprehensive with the College Board units and lessons which is helpful when supplementing specific class lessons. He also sells comprehensive review packets for each subject. In the last month before the exam every year, he hosts live streams where he reviews chunks of the curriculum with students online.
Georgia Virtual Learning: This website correlates to the College Board units as well, with flashcards, practice questions, interactive images and more embedded onto the textbook. The curriculum also includes a section to learn the exam format.
The Map as History: Animated instructional map videos of historical events help visualize the global impacts of international affairs.
Calculus AB, Calculus BC:
Wolfram Demonstrations: This website allows you to visualize the complex concepts you learn throughout the year. The graph on the page will morph as you manipulate the variables, helping you make sense of abstract calculus.
TI in Focus: Created by the company that makes TI calculators, this website offers past AP exam free response questions and video solutions to AB and BC Calculus topics.
FlippedMath: This is a comprehensive website that offers video lessons for every AB and BC topic. They also have review practice quizzes for every unit. To follow the lessons, you can also buy their workbook on their website.
Chemistry:
Bozeman Science: This website divides the entire AP Chemistry curriculum into six big ideas, with corresponding videos for each lesson.
ChemCollective: Along with lab simulations, this website includes practice problems that are automatically graded. It also provides feedback on common errors.
Flinn Scientific At-Home Lab Series: This website has many lab experiment videos with worksheets and slideshows to go with each lesson. This is a great website for those who are looking for a classroom-like instructional resource.
PhET: This website simulates laboratory experiments of all kinds, which is perfect for those who don’t have access to lab materials to execute a physical experiment.
Science Geek: This is a more comprehensive curriculum complete with slideshow presentations, interactive practices and review activities for each topic.
Tyler DeWitt (YouTube): DeWitt is a Brown University undergraduate and MIT graduate passionate about teaching chemistry in an easy-to-understand fashion. He has instructional videos specific to AP Chemistry topics and reviews past exam questions as well.
English Language and Composition, English Literature and Composition:
Garden of English (YouTube): This YouTube channel has tips for both AP Language and AP Literature essays. He also has paid exam preparation materials for both subjects through the Ultimate Review Packet website.
Coach Hall Writes (YouTube): Coach Hall’s videos are mostly to help with the AP Language exam’s essay portions, but she also offers some AP Literature advice.
The Oregon State Guide to English Literary Terms (Youtube playlist): Posted by the Oregon State University School of Writing, the videos under this playlist delve into common literary terms necessary to know for the AP Literature exam.
U.S. History:
Barron’s AP U.S. History Podcast: If you are looking for a quick, on-the-go review resource, these podcast episodes run just five minutes.
The Gilder Lehrman Institute of American History: AP U.S. History Study Guide: The website has practice exam questions for each unit. This is a great way to strengthen certain units while practicing test-taking strategies.
World History: Modern:
Barron’s AP World History Podcast: Barron’s AP also has a podcast for World History, again a perfect resource for on-the-go review.
Freemanpedia (YouTube): This channel is dedicated to the College Board world history curriculum, with video lessons categorized into respective units.
