Matcha Recipes to Try Out

Do you want to recreate some matcha goods you saw on Pinterest? In case you don’t know what matcha is, matcha is made of ground green tea leaves. Commonly found in most East Asian countries, matcha  can be found in teas or even lattes. But more recently, it  has made its way in different baked goods and other forms of drinks. Listed below are some quick and easy recipes to follow! 

Matcha Lemonade:

Ingredients: 

  • Lemonade

  • 1 teaspoon of matcha powder

  • Ice

Instructions:

  • Add your desired amount of lemonade 

  • Add a teaspoon of matcha powder to your lemonade and use a hand held whisk or mix with a spoon

  • Add ice and you are set!

Matcha Cookies

Ingredients: 

  • 2 cups of flour

  • 1 tsp of baking soda

  • ½ tsp salt

  • 1 tbsp matcha powder

  • 1 cup unsalted butter

  • ½ cup sugar

  • 1 cup brown sugar

  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

  • 2 eggs -- room temperature 

  • 1 cup white chocolate chips 

Instructions: 

  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit

  • Brown butter until it is a yellow, golden color

  • Mix together flour, baking soda, salt, and the matcha powder in  a bowl

  • Add both white and brown sugar to the browned butter. After it  is combined, add the eggs and vanilla. Make sure to whisk thoroughly until it is a creamy and light texture in the bowl; this allows the cookies to become chewy while crisp too!

  • After the wet ingredients are combined well, add it into the dry ingredients until a dough forms

  • Add white chocolate chips into the dough and mix until it is evenly distributed

  • Leave the dough to rest for 30 minutes at room temperature

  • Grab 2 baking sheets and be sure to line them with parchment paper. Then, use about 3 tablespoons of the dough to make balls. Another option is to use an ice cream scooper to evenly scoop out the cookies. Also, be sure to keep them 2-3 inches apart in order to prevent the cookies from cooking together.

  • Bake cookies for 9-11 minutes 

  • Allow the cookies to cool and serve!

Matcha Mochi Cake

Ingredients: 

  • 4 eggs

  • 2 tsp vanilla extract

  • 2 cup milk

  • 2 cup sugar

  • 1 ½ tsp matcha powder

  • 1 pound mochiko flour 

  • 2 tsp baking powder

  • ½ tsp salt

  • ½ cup melted butter + 1 tsp for the pan

  • 1 can of coconut milk -- make sure its warm for it to be smooth

  • ½ cup shredded coconut

Instructions: 

  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. 

  • Use melted butter to cover a 9x13 pan with melted butter 

  • In a large bowl, mix together eggs, vanilla extract, and milk

  • In a separate bowl, mix together sugar and the matcha powder until it’s combined. Then, mix in the mochiko flour, baking powder, and salt. Finally, mix the egg and milk into the dry mixture until it’s incorporated. 

  • Add your melted butter and coconut milk. Then pour the mixture into a pan, and cover it in order to release air bubbles that might’ve formed.

  • Add some coconut flakes and salt (optional)

  • Bake in the oven for about 1 hour or until it is golden brown on the top

  • Allow the mochi to cool for about an hour before slicing it into squares.
