Meet the Staff! (Part 4)

An essential part of our Notre Dame community is the exceptional faculty, who help shape the futures of hundreds of students through their engaging lessons, unwavering support, and genuine connections they form. And with all the new faces joining our staff this year, it’s important to get to know them!

Aiden Ferrer

After participating in the FIRST Robotics Competition for the past 8 years and experiencing first-hand how STEM education has inspired the engineers, innovators, and entrepreneurs of the future, Mr. Ferrer chose to become co-director of the robotics team. He resonated with Notre Dame’s dedication to serving both the school community and the greater San Jose area and is ecstatic to further our competitive robotics program and help develop tomorrow’s leaders in the process. Mr. Ferrer can be found gaming or reading in his spare time and owns a pet parakeet named Nacho, who lives back in San Francisco with his family.

Sophia Loumiotis

Ms. Loumiotis serves Notre Dame as a math and data science teacher and earned her bachelor’s degree in mathematics from UC Berkeley and a master’s degree in education from Stanford. Some of her favorite things about Notre Dame are working alongside the passionate, diverse students and staff and ND’s commitment to social justice. Ms. Loumiotis’ hobbies include cooking and gardening. She is an avid lover of cookie dough ice cream.

Natasha Fazeli

Ms. Fazeli, a new member of the Science Department, aims to empower and educate young women going into historically male-dominated STEM fields. She loves the unique opportunities Notre Dame’s outstanding science program offers students and the hardworking, compassionate, and friendly student body and faculty. In her spare time, Ms. Fazeli enjoys caring for her pets, an orange tabby cat and a border collie dog, reading fiction, listening to live music with friends, dancing, watching rom-coms, and trying out new recipes in the kitchen.

Chris Kuszmaul

Mr. Kuszmaul is thrilled to teach computer science and engineering, hoping to enrich his role as an educator. His daughter inspired him to express honesty and compassion not only in his parenting, but also in the classroom. He is excited to join the ND community that he had previously admired from afar. Outside of the classroom, Mr. Kuszmaul enjoys napping, cuddling with Leopard, his cat, and reading books by Lois McMaster Bujold.
