Demon Slayer: Mugen Train has recently become the highest-grossing anime film worldwide, surpassing classics such as Spirited Away, Your Name, and Howl’s Moving Castle. Thousands worldwide have watched and even re-watched the film due to its appreciated qualities that will be reviewed!

This is a spoiler-free review, but it is suggested that the preceding Demon Slayer television series is watched before Demon Slayer: Mugen Train in order to understand the context. The movie follows Tanjirou, Zenitsu, Inosuke, and Nezuko on a mission they must complete on a train. There, they are to meet the fire hashira, Rengoku, for his assistance with the mission, which states that there is a demonic threat on the vehicle. Passengers have gone missing, and it is believed to be the fault of a demon.

I saw Demon Slayer: Mugen Train at ShowPlace ICON Theaters at Westfield Valley Fair Mall. The theater is not allowing full capacity, so everything is socially distanced, and you are not permitted to sit within several seats of another customer. This was my first time at a theater in over a year, and I would highly recommend this specific theater because of the sanitized and socially-distanced seating and comfortable recliners! I felt reassured that the theater did their job in keeping me safe so that I could enjoy Demon Slayer: Mugen Train.

Season one of Demon Slayer was released in early 2019 and ended later that year. This means that it has been about two years since the story has officially progressed, setting high expectations. The animation within the movie is consistent with the series, which are both absolutely stunning. The soundtrack was also very beautiful and fitting for each concept, evoking a multitude of emotions. The storyline, based on the manga, was carried out perfectly; it grasped every emotion once again, bringing me to tears multiple times! The plot of the movie was from an arc in the original manga, and from my personal knowledge, it was carried out quite precisely. Almost all of the panels were brought to life through the movie, making the animation a completely different experience from reading the manga.

In conclusion, Demon Slayer: Mugen Train reminded me of how much I adore the Demon Slayer series and franchise for its wonderful storyline, characters, and emotions. It has amazing concepts, absolutely wonderful animations, and even great voice acting!
