The Magic Behind Spirit Week Madness: School Council Highlight

Imagine you’re at an ND rally: your friends are sitting at your side, everyone is screaming, and a sea of pom-poms is moving over the classes. For us, each rally is the opportunity to show class spirit, sit back, and watch as our classes dominate. What allows us to do this though? Who are the people behind making our favorite week of the year possible?

That job lies in the hands of ND’s amazing ASB school council. This team has brought to ND a week of fun, that brings ND grades together. ND’s school president, Neha Jain ‘20, gives an insight into what exactly this week entails, along with the month and months of prep that accompany it.

Jain ‘20 says that all of this planning starts at one thing: games! Every year, ASB tries to “make every game different from previous years” (Jain ‘20). These games, loved by all, are definitely key to the ND Spirit Week experience. Jain ‘20, along with the rest of the ASB team, has put in hours and hours to make these games work. She says that “We have met every lunch period throughout February and the week of Spirit Week… As a result, it feels like we are a part of a family!” This team makes for such a successful Spirit Week.

Just like any other job, this one does get stressful. However, Jain ‘20 wouldn’t trade it for anything else in the world: “when you are at the front of the gym, watching your games and rallies materialize before you, you feel so proud, and it's all worth it.” So the next time you see your ASB school council walking around, make sure to thank them because Spirit Week would not be possible without them.
