Was it a good idea to give you a cell phone at age 9?

The idea of presenting technology to young children has been a controversial topic ever since handheld phones appeared. Cell phones can be the missing piece to long-distance relationships but they also have the power to completely cut off a person’s social circle. Despite this off-set, the use of cell phones is extremely widespread throughout the world today. As the world continues to progress further, parents find themselves giving their young children handheld cell phones as sources of entertainment and a solution to possible safety concerns. This practice proves to be beneficial in times of danger or at a time of need for faraway contact. Apps such as Messages and FaceTime can be used by children for various reasons, many of which have prevented them from hazardous situations. On the flip side, having handheld cellphones at an early age may hinder the development of social skills and communicating exposure. Additionally, addiction is one of the most important issues of using these devices as children. Subconsciously, people develop an unhealthy addiction to their phones due to the easy access and simplicity of the product. Addictions are difficult to get past, which makes them more dangerous to the human mind. As the brains of young kids develop, it is often not a good idea to present handheld cellphones to them. Radiation from these devices affects the development of vital tissues in the brain which may affect major functions later on in their lives. Evidently, the use of handheld cell phones by young children can hinder them from their full potential to communicate effectively in their future. Radiation from the use of devices can also cause severe brain damage depending on the length of time the child was in close proximity to these devices. Scientists have conducted years of research which proves that radiation can be the ultimate reason for problems relating to the brain later on in life. As harmful as technology can be to young children, it also brings countless benefits to their safety and well-being. Of course, it is up to each parent to allow their offspring to use cell phones or not.
