90’s Fashion Comeback

The fashion world around us is constantly changing, and trends slowly fade in and out of style. However, one specific era of fashion seems to be coming back. The 90s. Parents’ clothes making their way to Goodwill are being intercepted by teens, and past styles are taking off again. Here are some fads that teens are becoming increasingly interested in.1. ScrunchiesScrunchies were invented in 1960, but only became popular in 1987. Throughout the rest of the 80’s and 90’s, the colorful hair ties were seen everywhere. However, they eventually faded out of style in the 2000’s. Now, in 2019, scrunchies are back. They’re being worn by celebrities, and teens alike. It’s a key part of the VSCO girl look, a recent aesthetic that seemingly became popular overnight on social media apps such as TikTok and VSCO.2. Combat BootsBecause of popular singers and artists, combat boots are back from the 90s. One of the more popular brands of combat boots are Doc Martens. They’re often worn with a pair of leggings, jeans, or a skirt.3. Mom JeansOriginally considered “unfashionable” by trendy younger women, this style of jeans has overtaken the fashion of teens in 2019. Mom jeans were extremely popular in the late 80s and early 90s, but faded out as older adults wore them more frequently (hence the name, mom jeans).4. Denim SkirtsIn the 90s, fashion icon Marnie Bjornson popularized denim skirts. The style has been on the rise since the 90s, and still seems to be in fashion. There are many versions of the denim skirt, including asymmetrical hems, button up, and ripped. It’s a look that many people can pull off effortlessly.
