Translation: a feeling of disgust (no english word available)

End of Evangelion is the movie conclusion to the 26 episode series, Evangelion. This movie is everything a fan would want: giant robot fights, a government invasion, and our characters pushing their limits. It has one of the greatest hand-drawn animations, but has been unable to be topped by many films today. It is no shock End of Evangelion is a masterpiece of cinema, but the film gets this more from its emotional undercurrent. End of Evangelion is one of the greatest pieces of cinema that should be watched by all. (End of Evangelion can be found on Netflix and SPOILER WARNING for the rest of the review.) The second half of this movie is where the movie shows its true colors, where we follow the main character, Shinji. People who struggle in the ways Shinji feels are supposed to relate and despise Shinji at the same time. This does create a problem where Shinji can only show the unlikable part of him to the viewers if they are not struggling with the way that Shinji is. Some people tend to relate to Shinji and see themselves in that character, despite character flaws that can draw many viewers away from the material. It can make the people who do relate to Shinji feel the story is personal. The film shows exactly how a person with emotions that are similar to Shinji can act and feel, but that can create an opposite effect where people without the ability to relate can really dislike the main character.  The final part of the film teaches the viewers its message, and what it wants the viewers to leave on. The movie leaves with a final letter of what the audience who relates to Shinji should do. People can agree or disagree with this final message, but viewers can feel satisfied with the message the movie tries to end on. Viewers can gain new ideas that can better them, or at least give them new insight into ideas. The movie ends with an interpreted ending, and leaves the viewer with the desire to become a better person. It may not be the ending everyone wanted, but it is the ending that makes End of Evangelion the great cinematic piece it is. Viewers are left to piece together the puzzle and decide what happens. End of Evangelion is a truly unique film that everyone should watch, not only for how amazing everything about it is, but to learn more about people and how others can feel.
