For 68 years, artists in the music industry have been coming together annually to attend the most prestigious music award show - but it wasn’t always called the Grammys. In 1959, the ceremony made its debut as the Gramophone Awards, serving as a tribute to the phonograph’s impact on recorded music. Now, the Grammys is one of the most viewed award shows, and this year will be no different. Music's biggest night is almost here, and on Feb. 1, 2026, we will be able to see which of our favorite artists goes home with a Grammy.
The nominations were released on Nov. 7, filling people with excitement for what’s to come. Some of the most highly anticipated categories this year are Album of the Year and Best New Artist. While we don’t know who will win yet, there is definitely going to be competition with the amount of hits that came out this year!
First up, we have Album of the Year, with a variety of artists being featured in this category. These are the albums that were on repeat during 2025: “DeBí TiRAR MáS FOToS” by Bad Bunny, “Swag” by Justin Bieber, “Man’s Best Friend” by Sabrina Carpenter, “Let God Sort Em Out” by Clipse, Pusha T, and Malice, “Mayhem” by Lady Gaga, “GNX” by Kendrick Lamar, “Mutt” by Leon Thomas, and “Chromakopia” by Tyler, the Creator. While it’s impossible to tell who will win until award night, there are some predictions that Bad Bunny’s “DeBí TiRAR MáS FOToS” will take the Grammy home, “Given his high-profile Super Bowl performance, and the fact that all members of the Latin Grammy Academy can now vote for the traditional Grammy Awards,” says Total Music Awards. If Bad Bunny wins Album of the Year, his album will become the first Latin Pop album to take home a Grammy in this category. Fans have fallen in love with all of the albums nominated for this award, and choosing who wins is definitely going to be difficult.
The next category is Best New Artist. This year was especially refreshing to see the number of new faces who joined the music industry. The artists nominated for this category were Addison Rae, Sombr, Olivia Dean, Alex Warren, Katseye, Leon Thomas, Lola Young, and the Marías. Many of them have already accumulated millions of fans, despite being relatively new to the industry. However, this wasn’t the case for all of the nominees in this category. Two of the artists were past TikTok influencers, both part of the “Hype House”, and had a mass amount of fans prior to hitting the music scene. But it wasn’t until Addison Rae and Alex Warren released their hit songs that they were able to detach themselves from being solely associated with the social media app. Now, they’re contending alongside six other talented singers to possibly win the Grammy for Best New Artist. Who would’ve guessed?
Make sure to tune in to the Grammys this February to see the outcome of these nominations!
