How to End the School Year

As the summer countdown reaches the single digits, the end of the school year is always the most difficult. Here are a few ways to power through the last few days of school:

Creating to do lists:

To-do lists help me a lot with getting things done. I often order assignments on these lists from easiest to hardest, finishing off the easier tasks first and then tackling the more difficult ones. I also create subsections to each assignment. For instance when I am writing an essay, I create smaller categories for paragraphs under my big assignment labeled “essay.” Using apps such as Notion helps me create these lists, although most times I accidentally divert all my attention into decorating my page.

Remember your goal:

Despite summer approaching, assignments still need to be completed and grades will still be put in. Think about all the work you have put in this year and how to finish that all off on a good note. It will always seem intimidating finishing off another year of high school so make it as memorable and productive as possible!

Procrastination:

It is always easy to put off responsibilities and deadlines, but with the year coming to an end, it is important to get those done. For me especially, it is hard finding motivation to do these tasks. I always have a mental plan of what I am going to do but carrying out the actual action takes some more work. One way to gain motivation is to think about the final outcome. Thinking about my summer plans allows me to work more diligently to submit assignments, even if it means pulling all nighters. Procrastination is definitely hard to overcome, but always remember to reward yourself once in a while too!

Reaching the Final Stretch:

Start counting down to the end and remember to stay focused on that finish line. Even though summer break may seem to be coming very slowly right now, a way to speed up that process is by completing those unfinished projects. Being able to have people to hold you accountable will also help you to succeed, since studying with friends is extremely conducive to the learning process.

With all that being said it may be easy to just lay around until summer comes, but rewarding yourself with finishing off a complete school year is worthwhile. Power through the last couple of assignments and enjoy a summer with no regrets!
