Sabrina Carpenter: Pop’s Next “Big Thing”
Pop Music, one of the most fundamental genres of the music industry, has carried many big names including Taylor Swift, Michael Jackson, and Beyoncé. These artists have had immense success in this genre and have been able to connect with a large audience. Now, the time for a new era of artists is nearing. Some wonder if any artist will ever be able to live up to musicians as talented as those who have carried the last few decades. One artist, however, has changed the minds of many: Sabrina Carpenter. Her exciting, feminine, and intoxicating productions have the world on edge. Is she Pop’s next big thing?
Carpenter was best known early on in her career for starring in a Disney Channel favorite, “Girl Meets World”, a popular TV program following two best friends growing up in the big city of New York. Following this, she played many other roles in successful movies such as Netflix’s, “Tall Girl” and the hit success, “The Hate U Give.” Although Carpenter has worked on many different productions, she has always had a knack for music.
In 2014, shortly after signing with Hollywood Records, Sabrina Carpenter released her first EP titled, “Can’t Blame a Girl for Trying,” which currently has a total of 74 million views on YouTube. Since then she has released various singles and four albums while concurrently acting on several different projects. Though her music received a considerable amount of recognition from fans and the media in the past, she never stood out in the music industry. However, that has changed. Since Carpenter released her single “Skin” in 2021 and later followed it up with the single “Skinny Dipping”, her popularity has risen drastically. However, the big hit to the top happened when the actress-turned-musician released her album, “Emails I Can’t Send” in 2022.
The album debuted at number 23 on the US Billboard 200. Furthermore, two tracks from the song, “Feather” and “Nonsense” peaked at number 56 on the Billboard Hot 100 and the artist continues to hold a position in the charts. After Carpenter’s big success, she went on to tour for the album doing a total of 80 shows around the world.
It is safe to say that Sabrina Carpenter became a known name after her success with her album and tour as she was asked to perform as an opening act for global success, Taylor Swift. With her many solo and opening performances, Carpenter was able to showcase her very impressive, fun, and eye-catching stage presence. Having an exciting way to perform her hit songs has contributed to the artist’s likeability.
Carpenter’s career has recently taken off and picked up many new fans on its way up. Many are now eagerly anticipating her next projects and endeavors. The 24-year-old musician has used her talent and charm to infiltrate the pop music scene and who’s to say soon she won’t be dominating it?
