ND’s Immersion Trips

Have you ever had the opportunity to travel to amazing places with your school friends and staff? Notre Dame offers a wide variety of immersion trips with different intentions! These trips have financial aid available for the students in case they need help in covering the expenses to attend, and some offer the chance to pay in separate payments over time. According to each trip, there’s an itinerary for each day you spend, and every day is more fun than the last! Just to name a few, there is an interfaith immersion trip in New Mexico, the justice immersion trip in New Orleans, and a trip in Japan.

During the faith-oriented New Mexico trip in June 2023, students visited various religious sites, such as the Tibetan Stupa, Sikh Gurdwara, Santo Niño de Atocha Chapel, and more. Alongside fun opportunities to explore the area and connect with different faith traditions, this trip gives an amazing chance for you to meet other students from different places, as well as learning about their experiences with faith.

On the New Orleans Justice Immersion trip for March 2024, students will spend their time seeing the Easter Parade, mass at St. Augustine, sightseeing in the French Quarter, and more. Not only will you be experiencing many unique sights, but you’ll also be eating delicious New Orleans delicacies. The students on the trip will also be rebuilding and repairing homes, gaining more than 20 hours of service. This trip is a fun opportunity to build community, mixed with a good working experience.

The Japan trip is a great chance to make so many memories that last a lifetime. In June of this year, students will participate in various activities, getting the full immersive experience. Living with a host family, students get to bond and connect with others individually and collectively. You’ll get to walk around different parts of Japan alongside your peers and friends, engage in rich culture, explore gorgeous landscapes, and encounter a blend of tradition and modernity unlike anywhere else.

Being able to encounter great opportunities to travel with the ability to receive valuable life lessons, friendships, and memories isn’t an opportunity that comes around often. Whether it’s to London, Costa Rica, New Mexico, or Japan, the opportunity is worth trying out! There are always resources available if you need help deciding, and you can always bring up your interest in going to others who can help. Immersion trips here at Notre Dame are unlike any other, and whether or not you decide to seize the opportunity is up to you
