A Few Words From a Three Sport Athlete
Spring is a packed season for Notre Dame, with the end of the school year approaching, four sports currently taking place, the upcoming musical, and much more, so it is difficult for students to pick off the many co-curricular options Notre Dame hosts. Morgan Lee ‘26 chooses to spend her time on the Lacrosse team.
On the Varsity Lacrosse team, Lee is a defensive player, where she, “blocks the other teams attempts to score.” Not only does Lee play lacrosse, but in the fall season, she participated in the Varsity Flag Football for the sport’s inaugural year at Notre Dame. In addition to Flag Football, she was captain of the Junior Varsity Soccer team this year. When it comes down to why she plays the sports, she said, “I love each of my sports equally, and being part of the community and improving my skill is why I joined in the first place.” The sophomore also notes that, “It has been so much fun getting to play my sports with my teammates.”
Playing three sports means playing year-round, and for Lee, that means playing year-round defense. She says, “Soccer and Lacrosse all carry over into each other.” As of April 15, the Varsity Lacrosse team is 6-5 and has four more games to go this season. With the season being more than halfway over, Lee says she is, “sad the season will soon be over but I have had lots of fun with the team and have seen so much improvement.”
This season, the team has seen some changes. With seniors leaving after last season and new members and freshmen players joining this year, the team also welcomed a new coach in addition to their coach from last season. Coach Heigre, who is a veteran coach for the Lacrosse team, along with Coach Rausch, who is new to the program, have both, “helped the team win games and inherit new skills,” Lee mentions.
However, the season is far from over and the Lacrosse team still has lots of time to continue developing skills. Lee says that for the rest of the Lacrosse season, she hopes to, “win some more games and learn new skills in practice.” With the help of her coaches, Lee and her team have lots to look forward to this Lacrosse season. Good luck to the Lacrosse team!
