Must-Try Winter Dessert Recipes

One of the reasons why the holiday season is one of the best times of the year is because of the endless number of recipes! Specifically, during the holiday season, there are countless recipes to try out with friends and family or even by yourself! Not only are they delicious, but they are also relatively easy to make. More importantly, the recipes listed below are just a few of many that will get you into the holiday spirit!

Gingerbread cookies

  • Ingredients

    • 1o tablespoons/ ⅔ cup of unsalted butter (softened or room temperature)

    • ¾ cup of brown sugar

    • ⅔ cup of molasses

    • 1 egg at room temperature

    • 1 teaspoon of pure vanilla extract

    • 3 ½ cups of all-purpose flour

    • 1 teaspoon of baking soda

    • ½ teaspoon of salt

    • 1 tablespoon of ground ginger

    • 1 tablespoon of ground cinnamon

    • ½ teaspoon of ground allspice

    • ½ teaspoon of ground cloves

  • Step-by-Step Instructions

  1. Beat the butter in a large bowl until it is smooth and creamy. Add brown sugar and molasses and beat until mixed. Then, add the egg and vanilla extract until it is fully combined.

  2. In another bowl, mix together the dry ingredients. After, slowly incorporate the liquids into the dry ingredients. Eventually, a thick batter will form. Divide the dough in half and wrap them separately into plastic wrap. Make sure to form the dough into a disk shape and set it in the freezer for a minimum of three hours.

  3. Be sure to preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Then, line baking sheets (preferably 2-3 large ones) with parchment paper or baking mats.

  4. Remove the chilled disks of cookie dough. Then, flour your surface area, hands, and rolling pin; doing this will prevent the dough from sticking to your hands or the pin. Roll out the disks of dough into ¼ inch thick pieces. Then, cut the dough into different shapes and place them an inch apart on the cookie sheets.

  5. Bake the cookies in the oven for about 9-10 minutes (cooking times may vary). Tip: the longer the cookies are in the oven, the crunchier they will be. So, if you want them to be softer, I suggest you leave them in the oven for 8 minutes if the cookie cutter is smaller than 4 inches. If it is larger than 4 inches, cook for about 11 minutes.

  6. Once the cookies are done, let them sit for 5-10 minutes
