ND’s Thoughts on Spirit Week

As Notre Dame gears up for spirit week, one of the largest events of the school year, students are excited to show their school and class pride. For seniors, it will be their last spirit week ever, and for freshmen, it will be their first time seeing students in spirit costumes and fully-decorated class gym decks. This March, the Crown & Shield polled the student body to determine their feelings towards this eventful week:

40 percent of ND students are planning on attending the build days!

The overall favorite dress up day is Heartthrob Thursday, where people are encouraged to dress as their “type”! For that day, one student plans on wearing “clean air forces, bracelets, gray sweatpants, and a black compression shirt.”

As for their favorite aspects of spirit week, students say:

“The community coming together in friendly competition.”

“Build day! I love getting to work with my friends, and we always get to spend so much time together. It's also a really great way to talk to people who I usually don't see often, and I definitely make new friends along the way.”

“Dress up days, because it is funny to see everyone in theme.”

No matter whether you are a more active participant in spirit week, or would prefer to sit back and watch the chaos unfold, spirit week is definitely one of the most exciting times of the school year!
