Planes Incidents that Didn’t Land Right
Airplanes bring travelers from one place to another, whether it be going on a tropical vacation or attending a sports event. However exciting the destination may be, inconvenient plane rides filled with turbulence, popping ears, and much more can be insufferable. Here is a compiled list of some stressful plane rides of the past year:
1. The case of diarrhea that took off
On a Delta flight from Georgia to Spain, riders saw their plane take a U-turn, discovering this was because of a “medical issue.” The pilot described this as, “a biohazard issue,” in which the diarrhea had, “[shot] all the way through the airplane.” The mess was temporarily solved with vanilla disinfectant, but later only seemed to cause a bad chemical reaction unleashing horrible fumes. Delta responded to this event stating, “We sincerely apologize to our customers for the delay and inconvenience to their travel plans.”
2. Man taking a ride on the plane wing
A Southwest passenger succumbed to his impulsive thoughts and forced open the emergency exit, only to then climb onto the wing. The man attempted to jump off the plane wing, on the stationed plane. He was later hospitalized and, thankfully, was not arrested or criminally charged.
3. The door that took its own flight
Just recently, Alaska and United Airlines were forced to cancel flights after the door of a Boeing 737 ripped off, endangering the 170 people on board. The aircraft was depressurized at 16,000 feet and minutes later made an emergency landing with no passenger injuries. Luckily, no one was seated in the two seats directly next to the door. However, a pilot’s headset, personal belongings, and pieces of the plane’s equipment rapidly flew through the opening. The door plug was also later retrieved tangled around several trees in a school teacher’s backyard, which was reported to the National Transportation Safety Board. Shockingly enough, two iPhones survived the call, and one was still kept in airplane mode, keeping its half battery life. The case was revealed to be a Cryo Armor case, sold for $65.
Next time you step foot on a plane, make sure you are feeling well and all doors are bolted on. Many of these events were publicized on social media, allowing everyone to experience the joys and dangers of flight together.
