Spring: What will spring break look like for seniors?

While Seniors have finished applying to universities and may have some idea of what the next steps of their lives after high school are going to be, the work is not done. Many are yet to receive all of their college decisions. Some have not even been able to fill out FAFSA. Seniors are all at different stages. While in previous years they may have spent it relaxing, going on family trips, hanging out with friends, simply or catching up on missing homework, they still have one major concern on their mind: “What university will I go to”.

Last year, seniors were told to start thinking about what colleges they were going to apply to, but this year, they are having to investigate which they will commit to. It is something that torments many, it is now just too real. The once distant and nerve wrecking idea of committing to a college is now only weeks away.

Spring break is also just around the corner, and as college acceptances keep coming out, college will continuously linger on the minds of many even when they are out of school. Hopefully, seniors will have time to relax and destress, but many will also be researching the pros and cons about each school they were accepted to. For some, the location may be the most important part. For others, it is the programs offered or the extracurriculars that matter.

Senior Hanna Rocha, 24’ says, “I probably will be looking for what schools are more convenient for my major, and the aid is something that I have to compare too”. This is also something that is still on the minds of many, FAFSA. This year there have been many difficulties being able to complete the form. It has been extended until June 30th due to hectic schedules, many will take the opportunity to complete the form this spring break. With all of the issues the website is having, spring break is the perfect time to fill out this tedious form. Not having to go to school allows seniors to get in contact with someone from the organization who can guide them through the process.

Overall, spring break is not only a time to relax, but also a time seniors can and will use in order to figure out their next steps in the college process. They are all in different steps in the process, but in the end, the goal is still the same: to assure their future.
