Men Taking over the internet: Jeremy Allen White

Maybe you saw him in Shameless playing the role of Lip Gallagher, or in his Golden Globe winning show, The Bear, playing the lead role of Chef Carmen. or most recently the Calvin Klein ad that has the internet swarming with heart eyes as their celebrity crush has checked out and been replaced by Jeremy Allen White. 

“Short king spring” you may see in the TikTok comments of White's Calvin Klein ad. Many comments said “bring me back,” which prompted other viewers in the comments to give the commenter a notification to remind them to watch the ad all over again. Showcasing Calvin Klein's underwear, White took the internet by storm, and some might even say for the better. 

Most know him from the 2011 drama Shameless on Netflix, as the younger brother of the lead actress Fiona Gallagher who is played by Emmy Roussum, Lip Gallagher. He was 19 when the show started, and now 32 years old. He played the difficult role of a reckless and often criminal young boy, and we see grow through the show. He eventually takes over the role of Fiona Gallagher once she leaves, and takes the new lead, making it one of his many accomplishments. Fiona was the sister that looked after everyone, so when she left the show, that role was given to White's character.  With 6.14 million viewers per episode of the show, it's no doubt that White became a household name in his late teenage years. 

Disappearing for a few years and taking on small acting roles, Jeremy Allen White broke the internet in his first ever award winning show The Bear. This show is about a man, Carmen “Carmy,” who takes over his brothers restaurant after he committs suicide and  goes through the struggles of keeping the business alive, but ends up completely changing it. Winning 5 Golden Globe awards at this year's 81st show, it is a given that White’s role made an impact on the show all together. Jeremy Allen White won Best Actor while the show itself won Best Television Show. 

If you've been on TikTok, then you've probably seen the widely talked about ad produced by Calvin Klein, showcasing Jeremy Allen White's body in the New York skyline with the iconic song “You Don’t Own Me” by Lesley Gore. The ad was directed by Mert Alas, showing  Whites working out and climbing stairs. Fans from across the globe drooled at the man on the other side of the screen while Jeremy Allen White just sat back and let it soak in. 

From the screens of viewers to the stages of award shows, it's no doubt that the now iconic Jeremy Allen White is and the big name he’s made for himself in the past year. With his true big breakthrough in The Bear, White has not only taken over the TV screen but also phone screens scrolling through social media. With all the success this actor has been facing, it won’t be a surprise to see him appearing everywhere you look.
