The Familiar Road to Redemption of the Golden State Warriors

Other than the well-known populated cities of Los Angeles and San Diego, the Bay Area is truly a special gem of California. Known for its diversity among the people and its qualities, the city is built off of a culture that impacts the new generation today. If you’re ever driving around San Francisco and you look out your window, there are so many easter eggs that are part of the Bay Area identity. One particular detail that you may find often is the “Gold Blooded” posters or the rich blue flags with a yellow golden gate bridge on them. Haven’t caught on yet?  Well, the majority of the Bay Area population shares one particular similarity and that is being a proud fan of the Golden State Warriors basketball team.

The title winner of seven NBA championships has proudly repped the Bay and successfully put the city on the map. It is common knowledge that heading to the finals of any sports event does not develop overnight, but instead from consistent dedication and pushing through the lows as a team. The Golden State Warriors exemplify this, as they have shown remarkable progress over the years, despite players coming and going. They are a team that works through the punches and uses the criticism from the media to win another NBA championship after 4 years.

Knowing the history of the Warriors, fans become used to their shenanigans from losing one game to winning another. That's basketball for you, and no matter what standing you may be in, it does not determine your position in this game. Currently, the Warriors are sitting in the 10th seed of the Western Conference, but this is not what worries fans the most. Simply put, this season has been a rollercoaster for the fans. Starting the regular season felt like cloud 9 as the wins were piling up for the Warriors. But mid-season was where it all began, as losing streaks replaced the amount of wins they were gaining. Frustration reigned over Twitter as many Warriors fans can’t predict the outcome of the season anymore. Losing games against teams with higher standings is one thing, but losing against the last seed in the conference is another. Their top player, Stephen Curry, has always carried the heavy role of a leader, but players like  Jonathan Kuminga, Brandin Podemski, and Gary Payton II have been stepping up to the plate.

As of recently, the team’s road game records have never been better and they are soon going up against the 9th seed, Sacramento Kings, in the Play-In tournament. This determines if they are going against the loser of the Los Angeles Lakers versus the New Orleans Pelicans. For all devoted basketball fans, we are truly in the thick of it. Though the NBA is filling up teams with new young players who are about to take over, let’s not forget about the OGs who created the moves they use now.
