On a Plane to France and Spain

Roaming through the beautiful old cities and stepping through the cobblestone streets, myself and other Notre Dame students had the opportunity this summer to adventure to France and Spain! It was my first time out of the country and I was going to places that I had never thought I would actually be able to visit. The trip felt like a dream as we toured places like El Escorial or even the famous Notre Dame Cathedral. The trek on foot was always worth it as there was so much to take in: the languages, the smell of freshly baked pastries, and the thrill of the exploration.

Every evening we got a chance to taste cultural dishes from that country and the meal felt like a prize at the end of a long day. Surprises such as accidentally discovering a William the Conqueror festival are what made the trip exciting and well worth the long distance flight. Whether or not one knew the language of the country, it was always a learning experience mixed with great stories to tell when one returned. Not only will this trip be a fond memory for me, but the knowledge and appreciation of new cultures it cultivated will always be treasured
